Wat Phra Kaew (Emerald Buddha inside Grand Palace)

Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) The temple towers are supported by rows of celestials and monkeys. Steep and narrow steps lead to a balcony high on the central tower. The circumference of the base of the structure is 234 meters, and the central prang is 250 feet high. The central balcony commands an impressive view of Bangkok across the river, and the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho can easily be seen. However, photographs of the prang are best taken from across the river or on the boat as it arrives.

Getting there

Wat Arun can be reached by a short boat ride across the river from the pier near Wat Pho or others

Open daily from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. inside the temple.  Entrance Fee 30 baht. Other tourist attractions accessible from here are Wat Pho, Wat Phra Kaew, the National Museum, Chinatown the Ko Rattanakosin area, and the Banglamphu district.

Entrance to the temple is free.

Take the aircon 511 bus that runs along Sukhumvit and Ploenchit roads to Ratchadamnoen Klang. The temple is a 15-minute walk up Sam Sen Road, past Khao San Road in the Banglamphu area. A taxi from the west exit of Ratchathewi BTS station will cost around 60 baht.

located in the Nakhon District of Bangkok, Thailand. It was built at the beginning of the Ayutthaya period and was originally called
Wat Rai Phrik. One of the main features is a 32-metre high, 10-meter wide standing Buddha referred to as Luang Pho To or "Phra Si Ariyamettrai" (Maitreya). It took over 60 years to complete and is decorated in glass mosaics and 24-carat gold. The topknot of the Buddha image contains a relic of Lord Buddha brought from Sri Lanka.

Wat Traimit (Golden Buddha Temple), Bangkok

The main attraction is the Golden Buddha, Phra Phuttha Maha Suwan Patimakon (พระพุทธมหาสุวรรณปฏิมากร), the world's largest solid gold Buddha image.

Wat Traimit is a relatively modern temple in the Chinatown area of Bangkok.

Wat Traimit is within walking distance of Hua Lamphong underground (MRT) station.

History
The Wat Phra Kaew  is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple (wat) and pilgrimage in Thailand. It is located within the precincts of the Grand Palace. The temple is depicted on the back of the one baht coin.

What to see

The main attraction is the green jade or jasper Emerald Buddha statue in the central ubosot. The statue is quite small and mounted above head-height. Although photography is prohibited inside the ubosot, photos can be taken through the open window at the front of the building.

Entrance to the temple and Grand Palace costs 500 baht and the dress code is strict. Pants and sarongs can be rented at the entrance.

Getting there:  closed at 5pm

The temple is on Rattanakosin Island and easily accessible by boat or bus or taxi. Take the Chao Phraya Express boat to Tha Chang pier or the 508 aircon bus from Sukhumvit, Ploenchit or Siam Square. It can be reached on foot from the Banglamphu area.

Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha), Bangkok

Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), or Wat Phra Chetuphon, is located behind Temple of the Emerald Buddha. It's the largest temple in Bangkok and famed for its huge and majestic reclining Buddha measured 46 metres long and covered in gold leaf. The Buddha's feet are 3 metres long and exquisitely decorated in mother-of-pearl illustrations of auspicious 'laksanas' (characteristics) of the Buddha.

Wat Pho, traditional Thai Massage University, is a good place for therapeutic massage.   Cost is around 120 baht for half an hour or 200 baht per hour. closed at 6pm

Location: Maharat Road. Close to the river (about a half mile south of the Grand Palace), Old City (Rattanakosin)

 The entrance fee as of January 1, 2012 is 100 baht.

Wat Trimit - home to the world’s largest solid gold sitting buddha. The Buddha statue weighs 5.5 tonnes and is 3 metres tall.

5,500 kilograms of gold, 10 feet high. Number of visible armed guards: none. Why ? It weighs 12,125 pounds and it is 10 feet tall inside a building.
